Born Trevor Sutherland in Manchester, Jamaica, in 1946, he first recorded Red Eye People in 1962, with his first album being released in 1978
During 1972-73, he converted to Rastafari, during a spell in prison and became known as Ijahman Levi
I Do, his 1985 duet with second wife Madge, remains
